Montgomery Motorsports Park Returns to NHRA Sanction

MMPNHRA announced Mar. 12, that Alabama’s Montgomery Motorsports Park (MMP) has rejoined the NHRA Member Track Network.

Built in 1998, Montgomery Motorsports Park sits on 120 acres and features a modern three-story timing tower that also offers 10 VIP suites.

“The Howard family has a deep history in NHRA Drag Racing,” said Rich Schaefer, director of NHRA’s Southeast Division.  “As the only quarter-mile drag strip in the state of Alabama, and the home of the Million Dollar Race, we’re very happy to have Montgomery Motorsports Park back home as an NHRA Member Track.”

As an NHRA-sanctioned track, the facility will be eligible to offer racers a variety of NHRA racing opportunities, including the NHRA Summit Racing Series, the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA.

Additionally, the track has the opportunity to host NHRA’s specialty events including the National DRAGSTER Challenge, NHRA Summit King of the Track, and NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge.

“We’re excited to be an NHRA Member again,” said Jim Howard, Montgomery Motorsports Park track manager. “With programs like the Summit Racing Series and the Junior Drag Racing League Conference Finals, we feel that the NHRA has the resources to help us lift Montgomery Motorsports Park to the next level and continue growing our Super 7s Series.”
